World Hand Hygiene Day is a global campaign celebrated annually on May 5th to emphasize the importance of hand hygiene in healthcare facilities, schools and communities worldwide. Our school actively participated in this initiative, various activities were organized to raise awareness among students about the significance of proper hand washing practices.
1. Awareness Campaign: Posters and banners were displayed on each floor, emphasizing the importance of hand hygiene in preventing the spread of germs and diseases.
2. Educational Sessions: Interactive sessions were conducted in classrooms to educate students about the proper techniques of hand washing. Teachers discussed the importance of washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before eating, after using the restroom and after coughing or sneezing.
3. Demonstration Video: A video demonstrating the proper steps of hand washing was shown to all students before lunch break. The video highlighted the key steps, including wetting hands, applying soap, lathering thoroughly, scrubbing for at least 20 seconds, rinsing with water and drying hands with a clean towel or air dryer.
4. Practical Demonstration: Following the video, teachers conducted practical
demonstrations in classrooms, guiding students through the proper hand washing technique. Students actively participated, practicing the steps under the supervision of their teachers.
5. Photo Session: Students and teachers posed for photographs holding posters and banners promoting hand hygiene. These photos later will be shared on the school's social media platforms to spread awareness beyond the school community.
The celebration of World Hand Hygiene Day at school was of great success, with students actively engaging in activities aimed at promoting good hand hygiene practices. By imparting knowledge and practical skills, the school has taken a significant step towards instilling lifelong habits of cleanliness and hygiene among its students, contributing to a healthier and safer environment for all.
